To help reduce the accidental spread of product to neighbouring muscle groups, it is recommended that you avoid lying flat for 4 hours post treatment and avoid the following activities for around 24 hours:
- Rubbing or massaging the area treated
- Vigorous exercise
- Any facial beauty treatments
Most people can continue with normal activities with immediate improvement in their appearance. Some will have some redness, pin prick marks, possibly swelling and bruising particularly in the lips. Any swelling and bruising may be more apparent the next day.
Make-up should not be worn for 12 hours.
You are advised to avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise, sunbathing, and extremes of heat or cold for 14 days post treatment. These activities have been found to increase and prolong swelling.
Swelling may worsen in the first 24 hours, and then should settle within the first few days. Cold packs can be helpful in reducing swelling.
Because of swelling, the product may feel harder or lumpy and you may notice some asymmetry. The result may be judged at 2 weeks.
Bruising may take a few days to appear, arnica can be helpful in clearing bruising. It is advisable to avoid aspirin and alcohol for 12-48 hours after treatment. Tenderness should settle as swelling goes down.
Immediately after treatment your skin will be pink. Degrees vary from one person to another, from pale pink blush to beetroot red. Any redness is expected to resolve steadily over hours, sometimes it may take 3 or 4 days to return to normal colour.
Make-up can be worn the next day. If redness worsens, or itching occurs in the first few hours after treatment, cold compresses, or an antihistamine tablet will help to resolve any discomfort.
Use only the recommended products until skin colour returns to normal, then usual skin care may be resumed. The use of a serum is recommended to support healthy skin repair and boost results SPF 30 or above should be worn daily during the treatment.
You are advised to avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise, and extremes of heat or cold for 48 hours post treatment. These activities have been found to increase and prolong redness and swelling.
Do not use hair dyes for a week following treatment.
Treated areas may feel sensitive, tight, or dry and may appear pink, red, and slightly swollen for 3–5 days. Discomfort is rare and may be alleviated with an over-the-counter pain reliever e.g. paracetamol or with the use of a cool compress 15 minutes every hour a few times per day.
After the chemical peel procedure, skin may peel to varying degrees (mild, hardly visible, or heavy continuous peeling) depending on the treatment received and the condition of the skin prior to treatment. Peeling may last up to 2 weeks.
Avoid becoming overheated, perspiring excessively, using hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, or excessively hot showers in the first few days after treatment, as this can cause blistering and increase the risk of complications.
Apply any post procedure topical products as instructed. Regular home skincare products may be resumed 1–2 weeks after treatment or as instructed. Moisturiser may be applied twice a day or more frequently as needed for hydration and to decrease the appearance of flaking.
During the healing process, avoid picking, scrubbing, exfoliating, or abrading sensitive or peeling skin as this may result in irritation and increase the risk of pigmentation changes and scarring.
Makeup may be applied after the treatment if desired. It is preferable to apply makeup the day following treatment. Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning bed use for 2–4 weeks after treatment and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater containing zinc or titanium daily.
Avoid hot tubs, swimming, and other water activities for 2 weeks.
Avoid electrolysis, facial waxing, or the use of depilatories for 2 weeks after treatment.
Platelet Rich Plasma Facial or Vampire facial
Please carefully read and follow these instructions after your PRP treatment.
There are minimal restrictions after your PRP injections allowing you to return to your daily activities almost immediately.
Do not touch, press, rub or manipulate the treated area(s) for at least 8 hours after your treatment.
Avoid all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (e.g. aspirin and ibuprofen), Vitamin A, Vitamin E, gingko biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver, essential fatty acids (EPA, DHA), for at least 1 week prior to and 2 weeks after your treatment. These listed medications will limit or prevent inflammation, which can diminish your results. If you must take aspirin for cardiac reasons, you certainly must do so, but this may limit your results.
It is normal to experience bruising, redness, itching, swelling and/or soreness that may last from 2-5 days following your procedure. If you experience any pain or discomfort you may take paracetamol or other products as directed.
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming for 2 days after your treatment.
Avoid vigorous exercise, sun and heat exposure for at least 2 days after your treatment.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and cigarettes for 3 days after treatment. Smokers do not heal well, and problems recur earlier, and results may take longer.
